Overview

My Child Has a Fever is a self-help book for parents, not yet published. The following synopsis has been sent to literary agents for review:

It can be difficult as a new parent to answer all of the questions that arise when raising a child. Sometimes, it may seem unclear what illness certain symptoms indicate, while other times a parent lacks sufficient knowledge about their child’s development. However, simply knowing a few more facts about what’s going on inside their child’s body can help parents put their son or daughter to bed at night with peace of mind. My Child Has a Fever offers a collection of quips and quotes from a pediatric nurse practitioner with over 30 years of pediatric experience revealing the most common health concerns parents have for their children and providing helpful suggestions for handling each individual fear.

Concept

It’s only natural for parents to be concerned about their children’s health, but they usually lack the perspective of the nurses and doctors who treat dozens of children every day with identical symptoms.

My Child Has a Fever discusses many of the most common phrases the nurse practitioner or doctor hears when parents bring in their sick children, and it offers light-hearted advice to ease any parent’s worry. Remarkably, across cultures and language barriers, much of what each parent says about each child sounds just like the next parent who walks into the doctor’s office.  This book connects these parents and helps them understand that what feels scary and unknown is actually often healthy and normal.
